Congratulations to Mr. Tim Heil, 4th Grade teacher at Lemmon Elementary School, for being selected as the South Dakota Elementary Teacher of the Year in its Smart/Maher VFW Citizenship Education Teacher Award contest. Mr. Heil was nominated for his commitment to teaching Americanism and patriotism to his students. His actions and character play a vital role in helping shape the youth into strong and passionate leaders our country needs in the decades to come.
The award ceremony will be held in Pierre on January 22 at the annual Legislative VFW winter luncheon banquet. Mr. Heil will now represent South Dakota in the National Elementary Teacher of the Year in its Smart/Maher VFW Citizenship Education Teacher Award contest.
Thank you Mr. Heil for your dedication to our students and for your commitment to teaching patriotism in the classroom for the past 32 years!
